Internship
Internship Reflection
My internship was at the, The Documentary School, it’s a school where it taught students how to produce, shoot and edit a documentary film. Over eight weeks, each small team of students produces a 3-5 minute film about a local issue. At the end of the class we present it at the Documentary Film Festival, and we vote for the best short documentary film. Our instructors for the Documentary Film School were Christopher Rufo and host Keith Ochwat.
The things we did in the Doc School was, that we were taught the basic fundamentals of how to make a documentary storytelling, cinematography, and editing. We were showed what things to do and how to record in a good way and how to get a good interview with someone, we were put into groups, and then while we were in the groups we decide to choose for our topic for the documentary we were going to do . This internship helped me learn how to the whole documentaries. Some of the ways we finish this was we had discussed with our groups how we were going to get it done and go to the place to get it done and we would video tape it .
The technology that was used in my internship was video cameras, external mic, and stands to hold the camera up, and video editor program called after effects. Some of the new things that I never used were a mic that attaches to the person so they can talk through it I never seen one before until I was in my internship.
I think my internship that I did at The Documentary School, the program was very good, because I learned how to make a documentary and learn what are the necessary steps to do make a good documentary. The internship was kind of hard because we had to get to know the people in our group and be able to work with them and work around their schedule. I would recommend this internship to another student because they would learn a lot from it and know how to edit videos and know how to make a documentary.
